A full range of National Curriculum programmes of study is enriched by thrice weekly evening provision via our "eXtra" programme.
The curriculum preserves the creative fabric of the junior learning experience and extends its power in a robust, dynamic and increasingly challenging timetable.
The curriculum offers a contingent teaching model established on constructivist principles which aims to maximise achievement by continuous cycles of planning and goal setting, learning, assessment and review. Head of Well Being, Alan Barnes leads the management of balancing appropriate use of modern technology with guidance to reduce the "remote" nature of modern life and a return to fundamental life skills which sustain emotional health.
Students maintain "I Matter" files which record individual progress and success and create annual displays of their own achievements.
Learning groups of 5 maximum ensure individualised approaches and significant levels of support. Continuous oversight by Key Workers secures rapid and sustained progress academically and socially for every student.
Accreditation begins at this stage of learning at Arc School with all students following both ASDAN and Entry Level courses of study to gain certificated awards which feature within the National Qualifications Framework, and lead seamlessly into further qualification at GCSE level and beyond. |
