Admissions
Admissions to Arc School are made and funded by referral from local authority children's services for education, health or social care.
An initial visit to the school is followed by a formal interview, home visit and ultimately an assessment period of usually one week for the student.
Parents/carers looking at a range of options for their child are welcome to contact the school directly to visit outside the formal admissions process.
Placements are offered to students whose needs can be met within the existing framework and learner body of the school, and a home school agreement outlines the responsibilities of school, student and parents.
Students may be admitted at any time during the compulsory schooling period, and may make transition to mainstream or local special school provision at any time determined by their sponsoring authority. Typically, however, students remain for the duration of their schooling, transferring usually at 16 to local FE or independent FE colleges accessing specialist Connexions services in school to secure appropriate packages of support in the post 16 period.
